Customer chatbots / Jackson, Mississippi
AI chatbots for customer questions and website inquiries.
Help visitors find an approved answer or reach the right person. ShepBuild designs and integrates customer chatbots for Jackson businesses around selected business information, useful inquiry capture, and a visible human handoff.
A useful first workflow
An answer the business can stand behind. A request someone owns.
Work directly with Bud Sheppard to define the job, connect the required systems, and test the whole handoff before expanding it.
Answer an approved question, then hand off.
This example explains a possible engagement. It is not a completed client project or a promised result.
- The starting problem
- Visitors need a few reliable answers before they can describe their request.
- A useful first scope
- A chatbot limited to approved public content, with a clear route to a person.
- How we would check it
- Test unsupported questions, stale answers, consent and whether the handoff reaches its destination.
What we would agree before building
- Choose the content, tone and questions in scope.
- Define what it may collect and what it must decline.
- Agree on escalation, monitoring and updates.
Keep knowledge and actions distinct.
Our guide explains the difference between finding an answer and taking an action. No live chatbot performance is claimed by this example.
Bring the work. Leave with a direction.
Start with the owner or operator and the person closest to the task. Bring the repeated job, the tools involved, and where it gets stuck. The AI Build Session helps define a useful first build and the questions that still need answers.

Agree on the scope, price, schedule, access, ownership and support responsibilities. Later changes need their own agreement. Sending an inquiry does not book a session, authorize access or create an engagement.
Prefer a short note? The customer job
Choose the questions the chatbot should handle.
Start with a defined set of customer questions: what the business offers, where it serves, how to request help, or what information the team needs to review an inquiry. Assign an owner to the approved material and keep its scope visible.
A public chatbot is different from an internal knowledge assistant. It should not draw from private customer records or staff documents just because those sources are easy to connect. Private AI and business agents address internal work with a separate permission model.
Answers and handoffs
Make the next step work beyond the chat window.
An answer can point to a service page, prepare a callback request, or route an inquiry to a responsible person. The selected website and tools determine which connections are feasible. The team should see whether the request arrived, is incomplete, or failed to reach its destination.
Use lead intake and follow-up automation to connect the inquiry to CRM ownership and status. If phone handling is the need, compare AI receptionist setup.
| Visitor need | Useful response | Required handoff check |
|---|---|---|
| A common service question | An answer from approved information or a relevant page link. | The response is accurate and does not invent a price or promise. |
| A question outside the approved scope | A clear offer to pass the request to a person. | The responsible person receives useful context. |
| A callback or appointment request | The agreed inquiry fields and a proposed next step. | The destination confirms the record; missing details are visible. |
A clear authority boundary
Do not give a public conversation an unrestricted toolset.
Decide what the chatbot may answer, collect, prepare, or change. A public conversation should not automatically permit refunds, discounts, account changes, confirmed bookings, or external messages. Any allowed action needs a defined scope and a reliable confirmation path.
Keep the intake fields limited to what the next step needs. Define how requests, transcripts and errors are handled, who can see them, and who maintains the approved answers. These choices belong to the workflow scope.
An original trial
Test the unanswered questions as carefully as the answered ones.
For a fictional local service business, test a routine question, an outdated answer, an unsupported request, missing callback information, and a failed CRM write. Record the response, destination result, and the staff work needed to complete the handoff.
This is an illustrative evaluation, not a client result. A fluent response is not enough: the team needs evidence that the approved information and inquiry route work under the agreed conditions.
Implementation and maintenance
Choose the platform after defining the conversation.
The implementation may use an existing chatbot product or a custom integration. Website compatibility, account access, supported tools, ongoing platform costs, maintenance and support are assessed before committing to the scope.
ShepBuild is based in Jackson and serves Central Mississippi. The AI strategy and build session can help decide whether customer chat, a better website, or a simple form and routing flow is the right first step.
Useful answers before a tool is chosen.
01Can you build an AI chatbot for our Jackson business website?
We assess the website, approved information, intended conversation and required handoff, then scope a setup or integration. Compatibility and the selected tools determine what can be implemented.
02Will it answer every customer question?
No. Define a useful approved scope and a human route for the rest. Unknown information should stay unknown rather than becoming a confident invented answer.
03Can the chatbot connect to our CRM?
When the CRM and selected platform support the connection and permissions. We check record mapping, duplicates, required fields and failure handling before promising a specific integration.
04Can it collect inquiries after hours?
That may be part of the selected workflow and platform. The experience should state when a person will respond and provide a fallback if the system or integration is unavailable.
05What do we need to maintain?
An owner for approved information, inquiry routing, review and operating costs. Updates, retention, access and support responsibilities should be clear in the engagement scope.
